This is how APPIUS was born: a project that began with the 2010 vintage, shaped by the pioneering vision of former winemaker Hans Terzer and now carried forward with renewed energy by winemaker Jakob Gasser.
APPIUS has always been more than just a cuvée: it embodies identity, continuity and passion, expressing the core values of St. Michael-Eppan in their purest form.
Maturation shaped by time and precision.
Each vintage of APPIUS begins with an uncompromising selection of the finest grapes from the best vineyards in Eppan. At its heart is Chardonnay, which, depending on the character of the vintage, enters into a finely balanced dialogue with Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc. Fermentation and initial ageing take place in barriques and tonneaux, where the wine rests for around twelve months. APPIUS then matures for a further three years on the fine lees in stainless steel tanks. This extended maturation gives the wine depth, harmony, elegance and exceptional longevity.

A wine of such prestige deserves an equally distinctive appearance. The modern, minimalist bottle perfectly reflects the philosophy of St. Michael-Eppan. Its dark glass protects the wine within, inviting you to trust your senses. Year after year, the golden label interprets the unique character of each vintage through a design that is always new, yet instantly recognisable. The vision is to create a “wine collection” that continues to inspire wine lovers around the world, vintage after vintage. APPIUS is released each year in a strictly limited edition.
